INTRODUCTION
Minisprints, don't let the name fool you!
Although Minisprints are 375 Kilo, scaled down welterweight versions of the popular open wheeled sprint cars, they are serious and sophisticated racing machines.
Car stability, provided by characteristic top and front wings, coupled with up to
160 horsepower generated by large motorcycle or small car engines, produces average lap speeds on 1/4 mile clay tracks in excess of 140 klms per hour.
Minisprint racing is quick, exciting and very competitive.
Tas Minisprint Association Inc. (TMSA) is the sanctioning body for Minisprint racecars in Tasmania. Minisprints make appearances at all 3 Tasmanian tracks throughout a normal season.
In the 1998\99 summer season over 45,000 spectators attended the Latrobe track over a ten meeting program. Add the 3 tracks together and Speedway becomes Tasmania's number 1 spectator sport.
